Welcome Message

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

I would like to invite you to the Singapore Palliative Care Conference 2008 – the national conference on end-of-life care in Singapore. This biennial scientific meeting, which is organised by the Singapore Hospice Council, is for all healthcare workers who are involved or interested in end-of-life care.

The theme of this conference is "Respecting Choices". We will address the different issues and challenges healthcare workers, patients and their families have to face when making choices in palliative care. We have invited Professor Harvey Max Chochinov from Canada and Professor Cecilia Chan from Hong Kong as our overseas plenary speakers. Professor Chochinov is an internationally renowned Professor in Palliative Care and his recent work is on "Dignity Conserving Care" and "Palliative Dignity Index". Professor Chan is well known for her work in death, dying and bereavement among the Chinese. Together with many prominent local faculties such as Associate Professor Cynthia Goh, this will be a conference that you should not miss.

Whatever disciplines you are in and wherever you are from, I welcome you to come, share and network with like-minded people in this conference. Do register early and we look forward to see you at RELC Hotel, Singapore, 29-30 August 2008.
